Bachelor pad
I had a meeting with a new client on Friday. A young (well hum.. my age) bachelor who just bought a new apartment in the center of Stockholm.
I usually decorate for couples, where the women have all the decision making power, so this will be a really fun new experience. I am so excited to do a total bachelor pad with cool light fixtures, handsome furniture and beautiful textiles. I envision the apartment looking a little like this…
First of all.. your entrance hall has to make an impact on anyone who comes to visit. The sunburst ceiling fixture and the patterned floor are two major statements!
The guest bathroom is a cool place for an eclectic art collection.
Since he has a big collection of books and needs to work from home occasionally he needs a study to keep it all together..
Gray grasscloth wallpaper paired with crisp contemporary cabinets make this kitchen sleek and clean
His dining room would be classy, bold with dark curtains and black horsehair covered chairs.
Brass and glass table to hold a big dinner party and a cool iron and gold light fixture as a center piece in the room.
Fabric covered walls with matching curtains make the bedroom extra inviting. Masculine but soft with fresh flowers and bright accent colors. Framed architectural drawings flank the headboard.
No bachelor pad would be complete without an en suite marble bath and walk in closet …
Work it!
Before moving to my new office I scoured the internet for inspiration pictures to give me some ideas on how to decorate my new space. As a decorator I feel it´s so important to have a creative workspace so I surround myself with fabric covered moodboards and cool desk accessories to keep all my stuff organized. I have to admit, my desk is usually pretty messy despite my daily attempts to keep it under control… let´s just call it creative chaos!
Hot headboards
Nothing completes a bedroom like a fabric covered headboard. Here´s some of my favorite shapes..
Please contact me for an estimate if you´d like to order one for your room!
It´s all about details
Rolling out the rug, putting the furniture in place and finally hanging up the curtains is one thing. Styling the room and making arrangements with beautiful details is another. A room wouldn’t be complete without the beautiful decorative details that catch your eye and create interesting little vignettes. Here´s some pretty arrangements to give you some ideas for your own home..
Happy Easter!!
After a few weeks of closing up my old shop, moving to a new office/ showroom and unpacking and getting settled I am finally back to blogging!!
Now that I´m a bit more caught up with work I can start writing a little again and add beautiful and inspiring photos for you to enjoy
I hope you´ve had a nice week and thanks for your patience while I´ve been away! .. I´ll promise to do more updates in the future!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and Happy Eeaster!!!
On the move…
Kristina Lifors Interior Design is moving to new offices and a brand new beautiful showroom in the center of Stockholm. Moving truck is arriving on Friday morning so it will take a week or two before everything is set up and running at the new space. I will keep you posted and let you know as soon as we are ready to invite visitors
My Dream House – at the lake
Oh how I dream of a beautiful little house by the lake. Let´s imagine…
The outside would be shingled and have a gorgeous little dock. At night it would be pretty to line up little white paper lanterns welcoming my friends who arrive by boat…
When they arrive I´d serve them refreshing tall mango mojitos …
Maybe my cute neighbor, Mr. Pattinson, would stop by for some lobster dinner.. He prefers a cold beer in hand
The living room would look something like this… patterned painted floors, some light upholstery mixed with great patterns and sophisticated enough without being too fancy.
I love a great pantry to stock up on all party and dinner necessities… why not disguise it all behind a happy yellow pocket door?!
The kids like to share a bedroom and have tons of friends for sleepovers in the summer so they get to bunk in here…
For lounging around and long lunches we sit at the terrace in the back of the house..
There would be fresh cut flowers EVERYWHERE… love these pretty blue and white anemones..
If the guests need to freshen up they can use the downstairs bath which has a fun collection of John Derian decoupage on the wall..
The best part about being by the lake is seeing how happy our two cute little dogs would be when they get in trouble roaming around the woods … my little Jack Russel Maddie is lucky to have a buddy to look after her when she gets knee deep in dirt… (btw.. that isn´t my Maddie but it sure does look like her with that cute little brown ear)
